In the early stage of the project, engineers often judge the possibility of solar heating by analyzing the richness of solar energy resources at the location of the project. However, the traditional solar energy resource evaluation method ignores the huge differences in seasonal fluctuations of solar energy in different latitudes, does not reflect the use time of solar energy equipment, and fails to represent the investment income of solar heating equipment, resulting in distortion of the evaluation conclusion. The horizontal solar radiation during the heating period of the project site is proposed as a basic index. By calculating the static investment payback period of solar equipment, a solar heating suitability zoning method is established. This method can provide a relatively accurate evaluation basis for the decision making in the early stage of solar heating projects. This index comprehensively reflects the energy intensity of solar energy(intensive quantity) and the length of time available(extensive). It has good applicability for heating projects.
